Bright Zinc Plating is a finish for internal use only and is totally unsuitable for situations where moisture of any form (ie. rain, condensation or high humidity) comes into contact with the plated surface of the hinge, as over a relatively short period of time this can cause oxidation, motting / pitting, tarnishing and ultimately rusting of the plated surface.

The above condensation / moisture type situation can also be accidentally created when hinges fitted to doors that are then removed and sealed in shrink-wrap or buble-wrap etc. for protection o site, as ithe enclosed / sealed protective condition can cause "atmospheric sweating" and resultant condensation, along with its associated problems with regards to tthe effects of moisture. Bright Zinc Plated finishes must always be kept dry and preferably installed in well ventilated areas when plaster or paintwork is in the process of drying out.
